With the rapid development of the modern science and technology as well as medicine,thechanging spectra of diseases and the transformation of medical mode,it is essential to turn out anew type of advanced specialized personnel of medicine.In 1988 the State Education Commissionmade a decision to start 7-year program of higher medical education with its characteristics ofschooling for both bachelor and master degree in 7 years,with a combination of science and attachingimportance to training self-study competence and cultivating the quality of scientificresearches.Since 1991 three traditional Chinese medical colleges in Beijing,Shanghai and Guangzhouhave conducted their 7-year program by which medical students are cultivated and trainedas the 3rd generation of advanced,open-type and specialized personnel of traditional Chinese medicine,who possess knowlege of both traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine,have asound foundation of humanities and natural sciences and are well grounded in application of foreignlanguages,ancient Chinese and computer.
