Recently, some knife coins were discovered within the antiquity markets in Beijing and Henan province. Some of them are quite normal, meanwhile some of the rest have marvelous academic significance. The paper makes a overview of these coins, especially those excavated in Mapao Spring, Mentougou District, Beijing, which consists of various size of its kind. Due to their clearer chronological context, the paper came to the conclusion that the excavated place might shared the same area with their circulation.
Analyzed the metal element of the Ming knife coin and the Sharp-headed knife coin, thought there existed two kinds of Ming knife coins in the early Yan State. The Sharp-headed knife coin also can be devided into two kinds, and all these new findings offered new data to study the origin of Needle-headed knife coin and the development of the Sharp-headed knife coin.
