Objective To study the correlation between serum level of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and severity of coronary artery stenosis.Methods This study included 114 patients with coronary haert disease(CHD group) and 92 hearthy people(control group).The serum VEGF level was measured by ABC-ELISA in all cases and was compared with the severity of coronary artery stenosis.Results The level of VEGF in CHD group was significantly higher than that in control group(141.17±19.94pg/ml Vs 17.73±6.45pg/ml,P<0.01).The serum VEGF level in 2 or 3 coronary branches lesions subgroups was 129.52±19.87 pg/ml and 158.25±26.77pg/ml,respectively,which were significantly higher than that in single branch lesion subgroup(100.79±17.81pg/ml,P<0.01).Conclusions The serum VEGF level could reflect the severity of coronary artery stenosis.
