Effect of annealing on superconductivity in Fe_(1+y)(Te_(1-x)S_x) system

We have synthesized polycrystalline samples of Fe1.11(Te1-xSx) and single crystals of Fe1+y(Te0.88S0.12),and characterized their properties.Our results show that the solid solution of S in the Fe1.11Te tetragonal lattice is limited,~10%.We observed superconductivity at ~8 K in both polycrystalline samples and single crystals.Magnetization measurements reveal that the volume fraction is small for this superconducting phase in both polycrystalline samples as-synthesized and single crystals as-grown.It is found that annealing in air enhances the superconducting fraction;the maximum fraction is almost 100% in the single crystals annealed in air at 300°C.We discuss the effect of annealing on superconductivity and transport properties at the normal state in the Fe1+y(Te1-xSx) system in terms of decrease of the excess Fe.

Quantum discord dynamics of two qubits in single-mode cavities被引量:1

The dynamics of quantum discord for two identical qubits in two independent single-mode cavities and a common single-mode cavity are discussed. For the initial Bell state with correlated spins, while the entanglement sudden death can occur, the quantum discord vanishes only at discrete moments in the independent cavities and never vanishes in the common cavity. Interestingly, quantum discord and entanglement show opposite behavior in the common cavity, unlike in the independent cavities. For the initial Bell state with anti-correlated spins, quantum discord and entanglement behave in the same way for both independent cavities and a common cavity. It is found that the detunings always stabilize the quantum discord.

Vacuum Rabi Splitting and Dynamics of the Jaynes–Cummings Model for Arbitrary Coupling

The effects of counter-rotating terms(CRTs)on Rabi splitting and the dynamic evolution of atomic population in the Jaynes–Cummings model are studied with a coherent-state approach.When the coupling strength increases,the Rabi splitting becomes of multi-Rabi frequencies for the initial state of an excited atom in a vacuum field,and the collapses and revivals gradually disappear,and then reappear with quite good periodicity.Without the rotating-wave approximation(RWA),the initial excited state contains many eigenstates rather than two eigenstates under the RWA,which results in the multi-peak emission spectrum.An analytical approximate solution for the strong coupling regime is obtained,which gives a new oscillation frequency and explains the recovery of collapses and revivals due to the equal energy spacing.

Unified analytical treatments of qubit-oscillator systems

An effective scheme within two displaced bosonic operators with equal positive and negative displacements is extended to study qubit-oscillator systems analytically in a unified way. Many previous analytical treatments, such as generalized rotating-wave approximation (GRWA) [Phys. Rev. Lett. 99, 173601 (2007)] and an expansion in the qubit tunneling matrix element in the deep strong coupling regime [Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 263603 (2010)] can be recovered straightforwardly within the present scheme. Moreover, further improving GRWA and the extension to the finite-bias case are implemented easily. The algebraic formulae for the eigensolutions are then derived explicitly and uniquely, which work well in a wide range of the coupling strengths, detunings, and static bias including the recent experimentally accessible parameters. The dynamics of the qubit for an oscillator in the ground state is also studied. At the experimentally accessible coupling regime, GRWA can always work well. When the coupling is enhanced to the intermediate regime, only the improving GRWA can give the correct description, while the result of GRWA shows strong deviations. The previous Van Vleck perturbation theory is not valid to describe the dynamics in the present-day experimentally accessible regime, except for the strongly biased cases.

Exploration of iron-chalcogenide superconductors

Iron-chalcogenide compounds with FeSe(Te, S) layers did not attract much attention until the discovery of high-Tc superconductivity (SC) in the iron-pnictide compounds at the begining of 2008. Compared with FeAs-based superconductors, iron-chalcogenide superconductors have aroused enormous enthusiasm to study the relationship between SC and magnetisms with several distinct features, such as different antiferromagnetic ground states with relatively large moments in the parents, indicating possibly different superconducting mechanisms, the existence of the excess Fe atoms or Fe vacancies in the crystal lattice. Another reason is that the large single crystals are easily grown for the iron-chalcogenide compounds. This review will focus on our exploration for the iron-chalcogenide superconductors and discussion on several issues, including the crystal structure, magnetic properties, superconductivity, and phase separation. Some of them reach a consensus but some important questions still remain to be answered.
