Objective:To study the epidemiological and clinical features of pure neuritic leprosy. Methods:Using the practical pure neuritic leprosy diagnositic criteria the leprosy patients found since 1971 in our city were surveyed and the pure neuritic leprosy patients were determined and carefully examined.Results:44 cases of pure neuritic leprosy were found ,accounting of 7 04% among leprosy patients (44/625),the male to female ratio was4 5∶1.The leprosy patients were mostly classified to TT.The onset years age was 33 75±16 72 years old.Single nerve involvement was the most often in pure neuritic leprosy, accounting of 77 27%(34/44),two nerves involvement accounting of 11 36%(5/44)and three and more nerves involvement accounting of 11 36%(5/44)respectively.The symptoms of pure neuritic leprosy was mainly sense impairment, which is not relevant to the involved nerve amount and the distribution.Trunk type sense impairment was mostly seen.and accounting of 76 47%(26/34)in one nerve involvement group,80%(4/5)in two nerves involvement group, and 20%(1/5)in 3 and more nerves involvement group.Motor impairment was more often in pure neuritic leprosy, accounting of 84 09%(37/44),and 85 29%、100%、60% were seen in Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ group resp ectively. The onset of pure neuritic leprosy was mostly gradual, and 54 55% cases has an improvement after treatment. One case has been taken a nerve biopsy and typical BT histology together with BIG 2+was seen. Conclusion:Early detection and treatment of neuritic leprosy was very important to avoid disabihty and stop leprosy infection and prevalence.Due to the field situation,it was suggested to use the practical pure neuritic leprosy diagnostic criteria to carry out the leprosy control task.
Objective:To study the incidenee and clinical features of N Peroneus communis and its branches’damage in leprosy. Methods:Examine 275 cases of cured leprosy Results:The incidence of N peroneus communis was 59 27%(163/275)or 46 18%(254/550).The incidence of N peroneus superficialis damage was 52 36%(144/275)or 39 64%(218/550).The incidence of N peroneus profundus damage was 44 36%(122/275)or 33 45%(184/550).The damage of N peroneus communis and its branches express a spectrum characteristic and has a trend of gradually higher with the duration of leprosy diseased. The clinical features is characterized with sense impairment, more often than motor impairment. Conclusion:These nerve damages were more frequently seen in leprosy and its damage features are useful to diagnose and types dividing and to find whether the nerves are in high risk. The authors consider that early-detection,early diagnosis and early treatment are still the most important measure to control leprosy disability.
