Through a study of some Tibetan and Chinese linguistic materials, the author concludes that the Chinese cognate words corresponding to the Tibetan -g words might be or might not be falling-rising tone words. Thus, such Tibetan words and Chinese words have no special or positive connection.
The vowel pronunciations of some Chinese dialects can be classified into the standard type and the non-standard type. The former can be subdivided into Shanghai dialect, Yishuan dialect, Yueke dialect and Wenxia dialect. From the perspective of phonetic development, Shanghai dialect represents an older phonetic form, Yueke dialect, the standard and Yishuan dialect are based on Shanghai dialect for their development while Wenxia dialect is another development of Yueke dialect.
