This paper probes into the rhetoric and references aspects in Barack Obama’s Inaugural Address. The rhetoric part consists of Aristotle’s rhetorical triangle:ethos,logos and pathos. It describes how a speaker uses "ethos" to establish their bona fides,"logos" to make the argument logically and "pathos" to manipulate emotion. The references part focuses on seven allusions that are referred to in the Inaugural Address.
